Australian rules football er who plays for theWestern Bulldogs in theAustralian Football League .Higgins was picked with the Western Bulldogs first pick in the
2005 AFL Draft , 11th overall. He grew up inGeelong and was drafted from theGeelong Falcons . Played juniors with St Josephs and briefly with Bell Park, but then moved to Newtown for his intermedient football, progressing to the Geelong FalconsTAC Cup team.He was part of the 2005 TAC Cup team of the year (the under 18 competition).
He managed to make his debut in his first season (2006), against Collingwood. He played mostly as a small forward then but suffered a season ending elbow injury in Round 13 against the
West Coast Eagles . This ruled him out of playing finals at the end of 2006.Although he is primarily a forward, Higgins has been used sometimes in the midfield.
He was the Round 8 nominee for the 2007
