The Peter Brock Trophy is an
Australia nmotorsport trophy, awarded to the winner of theBathurst 1000 V8 Supercar race. It is named in honour ofPeter Brock , an Australian motorsport legend and nine-time Bathurst champion who died only weeks prior to the2006 race.The inaugural winners of the trophy were
Craig Lowndes - himself a former protegé and team-mate of Brock - and his co-driver,Jamie Whincup . The pair then secured the victory at Bathurst again in 2007 and thus still are the holders of the Peter Brock Trophy.Trophy History
Following Brock's death in an accident during a rally (Targa West Event) in
Western Australia , V8 Supercars Australia announced that from 2006 onwards, the drivers in the Bathurst 1000 would be racing to win the Peter Brock Trophy. The slimline cup mounted on polished hardwood, produced by Hardy Brothers Jewellers, took over 200 hours to construct and was only completed on
October 5 , just three days before the race.The trophy is inscribed with the words "King of the Mountain", a long-time nickname of Brock's, weighs 2.5kg and stands 50cm tall.References
