Whitley College, also known as Whitley College: The Baptist College of Victoria, is both a Residential College of the University of Melbourne and a theological college, established by the Baptist Union of Victoria. It is located at 271 Royal Parade, Victoria, Australia.
Whitley College is one of 12 residential colleges associated with the University of Melbourne. Though the main intake of students are from the University of Melbourne, they regularly have a small number of students from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Victorian College of Pharmacy (Monash University) and Australian Catholic University (ACU).
Whitley’s community is egalitarian, informal and deeply caring. Trees in a tranquil courtyard and surrounding parks appeal to rural students, our specialty. The round building, known affectionately as the "Donut" ensures that no one is left out, and is also very secure. All rooms are the same size and are carpeted, heated and have their own phone and broadband internet connection. Music, art, drama, chapel services and sport complement an extensive academic programme. All first year students are required to attend tutes and others are encouraged to also attend them. Whitley also boasts a library, gym, computer laboratory and intranet. When you live at Whitley, you find a home, a safe place to grow, and an instant family that will give you the support you need at university.
Theological courses are taught in a separate wing of the college, which forms part of the Melbourne College of Divinity. This is an ecumenical degree-granting body which offers programs in theological and ministry studies, ranging from Diploma level through to doctoral research.
