Castrapo

Castrapo

Castrapo (a portmanteau of "castellano" and "trapo", meaning "rag") is the pejorative name for the form of the Spanish language spoken in the region of Galicia with a heavy use of Galician vocabulary and syntax.

Example:Pecha la ventana (Castrapo) - Cierra la ventana (Castilian Spanish) - Pecha a xanela (Galician) - Close the window (English)

There is also another meaning used daily by the Galician reintegrationist groups to refer disapprovingly to the current standard form of Galician, which they consider to be overly influenced by Spanish.
