"The Tall Men" was a western television series that ran from 1960 to 1962 starring Barry Sullivan as Pat Garrett and newcomer Clu Gulager as Billy the Kid in 75 fictionalized half-hour episodes about the relationship between the famous outlaw and the frontier sheriff who eventually killed him. Unfortunately, no final episode depicting the grim conclusion was filmed. Memorably, the series opened each week with a shot of extremely long shadows cast by Sullivan and Gulager on a western street (the "tall men").
