Illawarra Rugby League

The Illawarra Rugby League is a rugby league competition in Wollongong, NSW. It is one of the oldest rugby league competitions in Australia, founded in 1911 with five clubs (Dapto, Helensburgh, Mount Keira, Unanderra and Wollongong). Only the Northern parts of the Illawarra are actually included in this competition, with teams further south (such as Kiama and Shellharbour) playing in Group 7.

In 2008, eight clubs fielded teams in the First Grade competition:

* Berkeley Eagles
* Collegians Dogs
* Corrimal Cougars
* Dapto Canaries - 2006 premiers
* Helensburgh Tigers
* Thirroul Butchers
* Western Suburbs Red Devils (a merger of Mt Keira & Unanderra)
* Wollongong University Bulls (a merger of the Wollongong Bulls & University Books)

Former clubs include:

* Mt Keira
* Unanderra

There is also a second grade competition known as the Tooheys New Cup featuring the Wollongong-University Bulls, Berkeley, Wests and five other clubs:
