- Adrian Juste
Adrian Juste (born
21 April 1947 inKirby Muxloe ,Leicestershire ) was adisc jockey who most famously presented a Saturday lunchtime show onBBC Radio 1 .After attending Guthlaxton Grammar School,
Wigston and jobs as a mechanic and salesman, he began his radio career with Leicester's local BBC station in 1969, moving to Birmingham'sBRMB as the Breakfast Show presenter & then moved to Radio 1 in 1977 and began his weekend shows in April 1978.The format of his Radio 1 show consisted of Juste playing clips from various classic comedy sketches, interspersed with his own puns and short sketches, between music tracks. His selection of classic comedy clips was at times quite complexly put together, using material from a wide variety of sources edited into one sequence. Controversially, he produced an audio tape in the style of his show which was used as a promotional aid by the Conservative Party.
Juste was among the veteran DJs who were famously sacked during the early 1990s purge of Radio 1 by then-controller
Matthew Bannister , a decision he bitterly railed against in a subsequent BBC television documentary on the history of the radio station. Juste subsequently made appearances onLBC , Radio Carousel and Jewel FM, and currently works as an advertising writer.
