Dr Tony Matthews (born 1949) is an
Australian author andhistorian .Born in
Swansea , South Wales,United Kingdom he emigrated to Australia in 1972. He worked for television for several years working for both theSeven Network and theAustralian Broadcasting Corporation . His first book was completed in 1976 and since then has written/directed 13 television documentaries and over 500 programs for ABC radio.He has written over twenty-one books.Fact|date=September 2008
