The Institute of Travel and Tourism, or the ITT as it is more commonly known, was established back in 1956. It is a professional membership body and aims to develop and maintain professional standards throughout the UK
Tourism industry . It also provides its tourism industry members many networking opportunities as well as encouraging students and corporate companies to become members.Conferences
Throughout the year, the Institute organises a number of events for its members. The highlight being the annual overseas conference held at a different destination each year. Recent overseas conferences include
Qatar ,Barbados , and in June 2006 theSultanate of Oman . In 2004, the Institute launched the inauguaral "Aspire Conference" for Travel and Tourism students across the UK. In 2005 the event was staged at the Adelphi Hotel,Liverpool , before moving on toButlins inBognor Regis for 2006. The 2007 conference is set to take place at the Royal Horticultural Halls inLondon - a dual event in cooperation with STEPS (the Spanish Tourism Exchange for Professionals)External links
