Steve Beard (born in 1961) is an English
science fiction /fantasy author. He was born in the 'M4 corridor ' in 1961, and moved toAustralia at the age of 12, where he resided in the city ofBrisbane . He returned to England at the age of 19.Novels and other projects
After attending
Cambridge University , he worked as a style journalist for i-D magazine, The Face and Arena magazines.In 1998, he moved toHove , where he met another experimental British writer,Tyler Sheedy . In 1999, he published the novel "Digital Leatherette". The book was published by "Codex", the book house that also published and distributed many ofJeff Noon s books'.The book was described as being 'fresh evidence that the street finds its own uses for literature' byWilliam Gibson .In 1999, he released the book "Perfumed Head", a pastiche of a conventional detective novel. It was published and distributed by "Book Works".
In 2002, he contributed with
Jeff Noon on an onlinebaroque fantasy novel, titled "Mappalujo". This project is accessible at [http://www.mappalujo.com/ mappalujo.com] .His latest book is "Meat Puppet Cabaret" released on 13 Jun 2006. It was published by "
