Santiago Cohen (born 1954) is a cartoonist, animator, fine artist and graphic novel illustrator based in
Hoboken, New Jersey .Biography
Santiago was born in
Mexico City and received a BA in Communication Design at the Metropolitan University in Mexico, and an MS from thePratt Institute on the same subject.He has designed greeting cards for the
Museum of Modern Art , theComedy Central logo, and illustrations for the "New York Times " and other major publications. He assistedArt Spiegelman andFrancoise Mouly at "RAW" magazine, and designed and animated award-winning cartoons for [http://www.roblechman.com R.O. Blechman] at the Ink Tank animation studio for HBO, CTW, The Cartoon Network, MTV and PBS. He received an award from theXeric Foundation [http://www.xericfoundation.com/xericcomicgrants2000.html] to publish hisGraphic Novel , "The Fifth Name". He is a children's book illustrator, and has created comic strips for "Drawn and Quarterly ", "Rosetta", and Mexican publications. He teaches in HTHS and shows his paintings in the New York Area. .He is married to Ethel Cesarman, and has two children, Diego and Isabel Cohen.
