Club
Fogarty plays his club
hurling with his local Emeralds club in Urlingford and has enjoyed some success. He won a county title at minor level in 2000, before capturing a county junior title in 2001.Inter-county
Fogarty first came to prominence on the inter-county scene in the early 2000s as a member of the Kilkenny intermediate hurling team. He won a Leinster title at this level in 2003, however, there was no All-Ireland success for Fogarty. That same year he won a Leinster title with the county under-21 team. This was later converted into an All-Ireland as Kilkenny defeated Galway in the final. That same year Fogarty joined the Kilkenny senior panel and shared in the county’s Leinster and All-Ireland victories from the subs bench. He made his debut in 2004, however, he found it difficult to nail down a regular place on the team and won his second Leinster title as a substitute as well in 2005. In 2006 Fogarty was impressive in the
National Hurling League and played a key role in helping Kilkenny to win the competition. In spite of this he was later omitted for his third Leinster final, however, Kilkenny still won the game. Fogarty, however, was included in the Kilkenny team named to take on Cork in that year's All-Ireland final. He turned out to be the hero of the game, scoring an impressive 1-3 from play. Fogarty was presented with theMan of the Match award and collected his first All-Ireland medal. The following year he was a substitute again as Kilkenny crushed Wexford in the Leinster final. Fogarty was later included in the team that faced Limerick in the championship decider. Although regarded as the hero of the game in 2006 Fogarty had a quiet game. In spite of this Kilkenny won the game and Fogarty collected his second All-Ireland medal on the field of play.Teams
