Laramie Boomerang

Laramie Boomerang

The Laramie Boomerang is the only daily newspaper in Laramie, Wyoming. It was established in 1881 by Edgar Wilson Nye, who named the paper after his mule, Boomerang. Nye also contributed several humorous writings to the "Boomerang" (under the pseudonym Bill Nye) and served as the paper's editor until 1884.

In 2003, the newspaper removed the word “daily” from its masthead to account for the fact that it is published six days per week.

The newspaper sometimes serves as a training ground for many recent graduates from the University of Wyoming. For instance, Larry Birleffi (1918-2008), later a radio, and television broadcaster known as the "Voice of the University of Wyoming Cowboys", began his lengthy career in journalism as a sportswriter for the "Boomerang".
