Machov is a
market town situated in theCzech Republic and in theHradec Králové Region . It has around 1,100 inhabitants. It lies just next to the boarder with Poland. Machov had always majority of Czech inhabitants but it had strong ties with Polish and German borderlands.Machov lies in a valley of brook Židovka and under a dominant mountain Bor, which is one of famous
Table Mountains in Poland. Close to Machov are alsoBroumov walls, which are sand-stone towers perfect for rock climbing. First written note is from year 1354 and first note about Machov as a market town is from year 1405, when town belonged toNáchod county .In Machov is a church ofSt. Wenceslas [Wenceslaus I, Duke of Bohemia] from 1675, which stands on place of removed wooden church from 1354. At the square is a baroqueMarian column from 1761. Near house number 26. stands protected lime tree (Tilia cordata ) with estimated age of 500 years, which is the oldest tree in whole region and alsonational tree of Czech and Slovak republic.Near Machov lie important resources of
drinking water . That is thanks to the geological substratum, that filters the rain water and also that formed amazing sands-stone tower of alredy mentioned Broumov wall and Table Mountains.Machov originally lied on a left side of brook Židovka but later were connected other administrative parts of Machov villages, Nízká Srbská, lying on a right side of Židovka, Machovská Lhota, lying further on the brook and also Bělý.
