Maarten Verkerk

Maarten Johannes Verkerk (born 3 August 1953, Ruwiel) is a Dutch physical chemist and author of books on relationships and management.

Verkerk studied Chemistry and theoretical Physics at the Universiteit Utrecht. He got his promotion in 1982 on the subject: Electrical Conductivity and Interface Properties of Oxygen Ion Conducting Materials at the Technische Universiteit Twente. In September 2004 he got a second promotion on the subject called: Trust and Power on the Shop Floor. An Ethnographical, Ethical and Philosophical Study on Responsible Behaviour in Industrial Organisations at the Maastricht University.

From 1978 until 1986 Maarten Verkerk has done fundamental scientific research at Universiteit Twente and the Natuurkundig Laboratorium of Philips in Eindhoven. From 1986 until 2002 he has fulfilled different managing tasks in the technological sector of Philips in the Netherlands, Germany and Taiwan, for example as manager of innovation and manager of manufacturing. Currently Verkerk is director of the Psychiatrisch Ziekenhuis Vijverdal, Maastricht in the Netherlands. Since 2004 Verkerk is professor Reformational Philosophy at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven.

Maarten Verkerk has written several books about the position of women in man-wife-relationships, for example: Sekse als antwoord (1997) and M/V. Mens en relaties in de eenentwintigste eeuw (1999, together with his wife Nienke Vegter). Also he has written several books on the field of management, organisation and company ethics, for example: Marktgericht productiemanagement (1997, with De Leede and Van der Tas) and Verantwoord gedrag op de werkvloer. Het effectief implementeren van bedrijfscodes en ethische programma's (in press, together with Leerssen).Prof. Verkerk is allied to the Association for Reformational Philosophy.
