Robert Cutlar Fergusson

Robert Cutlar Fergusson (1768 – 1838) was one of the more distinguished members of Clan Fergusson.Fact|date=October 2007 He was 17th Laird of the Dumfriesshire Fergussons, seated at Craigdarroch (Moniaive, Dumfriesshire).

He was a lawyer; an Attorney-General of Bengal; MP for the Stewardtry of Kirkcudbright, Judge Advocate General and a Privy Councillor.

The great Bengal entrepreneur Dwarkanath Tagore was apprenticed under him in 1810, and Fergusson was one of the 2 leading influences in his life. ["History of the Adi Brahmo Samaj (1906)" p 27.]
