Friedman was born inSt. Louis, Missouri and attendedWashington University there, receiving hisBachelor of Fine Arts in graphicillustration in 1988. He pursued graduate coursework at theUniversity of Illinois at Chicago receiving aMaster of Fine Arts in sculpture in 1990. His first solo exhibits were held the following year at Feature inNew York City ,Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art inWinston-Salem, North Carolina and the Rezac Gallery in Chicago. He has since exhibited inLondon, UK ,Rome, Italy ,Geneva, Switzerland andTokyo, Japan among other cities. Friedman currently lives inLeverett, Massachusetts .External links
