10 Gigabit Ethernet links over dedicated wavelengths. The company was originally founded in 2002 to act as a wide-areaInternet Exchange Point and application delivery service provider with offices in London and New York.The company's original business model was to use Layer 2 Ethernet and
MPLS technology to build a distributedInternet Exchange Point as well as to provide point to point ethernet connectivity. While this model has been quite successful with over 140 networks peering traffic over the PacketExchange network, the commoditization of the IP market in general in recent years has created the necessity for the company evolve. In October 2007, PacketExchange added Content Delivery services and was recognized as a key success factor in the band Radiohead's internet album release. In February 2008, Rick Mace became the new CEO and simultaneously, PacketExchange secured an additional $12 million in investment capital. PacketExchange continues to expand it's network and product portfolio. In May 2008, the company expanded its core network into the Telx colocation facility in New York.
