Poway, California (a suburb of San Diego) by Ron Vickers and Les Warfield. The original store, though sold by Vickers in 2005, has operated in the same location for 30 years and remains very popular with local residents and the surrounding business community. Although outnumbered by their national competitors, Submarina still manages to dominate in the local marketplace, capturing nearly all consumer choice awards including "Best Sandwich Shop" every year since the early 80's. The freshest ingredients and outstanding customer service set them apart.
