Willard (Bill) Whitney is an American broadcast journalist for
CBS News . He is best known as an anchor and correspondent for theCBS Radio Network , where he hosts the evening edition of the "World News Roundup".Before CBS News
Before joining
CBS , Whitney worked at a variety of local broadcast outlets. At the age of 17 Whitney began his career in broadcasting. In the years since he worked his way through the ranks at a variety of local radio stations including:WKEN , Dover,WGSM ,Huntington, New York ,WLIX ,Islip, New York andWGBB ,Freeport, New York .From 1979 to
1982 Whitney worked as anchor/news director atWCBS-FM ,New York City . He began his employ with the national CBS Radio unit in the early 1980s as one of the original anchors for CBS' young-adult oriented news service RadioRadio.Work at CBS News
Whitney moved full-time to the main CBS Radio Network in 1984. During that time he has filled in for
Charles Osgood on "The Osgood File" and done commentaries under the "Sidebar" title. He has covered a number of major news stories includingPope John Paul II 's U.S. tour and the Balkan peace talks inDayton, Ohio which led to theDayton Accord .Whitney anchors the "
