Australia n football in the last two decades and was one of the most skilful players plying their trade in the now-defunctNational Soccer League . Halpin represented manyNSL clubs and won the championships withSydney Olympic and Perth Glory. He also played with Newcastle United and at Perth Glory with his brother Scott Halpin. He has played with Sydney United and Marconi in theNSW competition and wore the No 10 shirt. He was most famous for his outstanding technical ability with the ball and vision in the mid-field. He won many matches off his own boot. For the Socceroos, Halpin managed 12 caps and 3 goals. This was seen by many as a waste as he was one of Australia's best at the time. He is still contributing to the sport, coaching and guiding a young team of emerging football stars at the Kings School in his role as Director of Football.
