Philip Waruinge (born

Waruinge represented his native country at three consecutive
Summer Olympics , starting in 1964. After having won the bronze medal inMexico City, Mexico (1968 ) Waruinge captured silver four years later inMunich ,West Germany . He was awarded theVal Barker Trophy for Outstanding Boxer at the 1968 Olympic Games.Professional career
Waruinge turned professional in 1973 as a Super Bantamweight and had limited success. He fought largely in Japan, and in 1976 landed a shot at WBC Bantamweight Title holder Carlos Zarate. Waruinge was outclassed and was KO'ed in the 4th round. He retired after a loss two years later with a record of having Won 14, Lost 10, and Drawn 1.
