K-1 Premium Dynamite!!

K-1 Premium Dynamite!!

K-1 Premium Dynamite!! is an annual kickboxing and MMA event held every year since 2002, by K-1. It was originally a co-production between PRIDE Fighting Championships and K-1 that was held on August 28,2002. The event was known as "K-1 Dynamite!" under the K-1 banner and, "PRIDE Shockwave" under the PRIDE Fighting Championships' banner, in Japan both organizations carried out the event under the name of "Dynamite!". The live audience record for the event was over 70,000 people, and till this day is the highest live audience record for both organizations and for any professional fight event.

Both organizations then later individually kept holding the event every year on new year's eve. As new years eve in Japan is a huge night for television as most families are home celebrating together and watching TV. Since then, every year on new year's eve PRIDE Otoko Matsuri (known as Shockwave in the States), K-1 Premium Dynamite!! along with Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye would air in a rating's war that for a while was dominated by K-1, but as of 2005 PRIDE has become the more popular sport and won the rating war for the first year.

Dynamite!

Dynamite! (also referred to as PRIDE/K-1 Dynamite!) was held August 28, 2002 at the Tokyo National Stadium.
