Kenneth Rasalabe Joseph Meshoe is President of the
African Christian Democratic Party inSouth Africa .Kenneth Meshoe was born in
Pretoria and is the fourth of seven children. He completed hisMatric Certificate in 1972. In 1975 he graduated from theUniversity of the North with a Secondary Teachers Diploma. In 1976, he married his wife, Lydia; they currently have three children.In 1976, Kenneth and Lydia joined Christ For All Nations, and from February 1980 he became one of
Reinhard Bonnke 's associate evangelists.In January 1987, Kenneth went to Shekinah Bible Institute in
Kingsport, Tennessee in the US, where he did his second year Theological Diploma.In 1988, Kenneth started an independent church called Hope of Glory Tabernacle, which has steadily grown.
In December 1993, they started a political party based on biblical principles called the
African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP), and Kenneth became its first President and has remained thus to date.During the April 1994 elections the ACDP won two seats in national parliament and three in provincial parliament. In the 1999 elections, they increased their support base by more than 300% and won 7 seats in the national parliament and 4 provincial in provincial legislatures. In April 2004 the Party grew to 7 members in National Parliament and 8 in Provincial legislatures.
During the Local Government Elections in December 2000 the ACDP increased its support by over 1000% from 5 councillors in 1995 to 62 councillors. The ACDP is now represented at local level in every province of South Africa.
Kenneth represents the ACDP at National Parliament, together with its other 6 MPs. Here he serves on the Portfolio Committee for Safety and Security. He also spends much time in his Gauteng constituency.
Kenneth Meshoe runs a very tight schedule and is invited to speak at many conferences both nationally and internationally, particularly on how to use prayer to bring about change in communities.
On the 18th December 1994, Kenneth Meshoe was awarded an Honorary Doctorate (Doctor of Humane Letters, abbreviated L.H.D.), by
Bethel Christian College ofRiverside, California , USA, and was also appointed to serve as an Associate Member on the Board of Regents of Bethel College.
