Shi Jin Qing (Chinese: 施進卿) was a late 14th century
Palembang chieftain. His was aChinese Muslims (Hui people ) with family fromHangzhou (Chinese: 杭州). The Ming imperial appointed him as chieftain Xuan-Wei-Shi (Chinese: 宣慰使) of Palembang region, for his merits and contributions in helping Hajji MahmudZhengHe in defeating the pirate leadersTan Chor Ee (Chinese: 陈祖義Chen Zu Yi ). Shi Jin Qing was also an official civil servant fromMajapahit of Java who was sent to Palembang to serve as a minister, after the Majapahit defeated Palembang ofSrivijaya in the year 1377.The daughter of Shi Jin Qing
Shi Jin Qing has a son Shi Ji Sun (Chinese: 施济孙) and daughter Shi Ta Niang. The daughter was known as Nyai Gede Pinatih or the
Great Lady of Gresik (Chinese: 施氏大娘仔俾那智). Both squabbled over the inheritance of power after their father died in year 1421, then it was Hajji Mahmud ZhengHe who made Shi Ji Sun the new chieftain Xuan-Wei-Shi, and so the daughter went toGresik in eastJava to preach her religion to the natives.
