Lewis Baronets

There have been seven Lewis Baronetcies, two in the Baronetage of England and five in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. These are shown individually below in order of creation.

Lewis of Llangorse, Brecon

Created in the Baronetage of England 14 September 1628 for
*Sir William Lewis, 1st Baronet MP for Petersfield 1640 and 1640-1648, Breconshire 1660 and Lymington 1661-1677 (26 March 1598 - November 1677)
*Extinct on his death

Lewis of Ledstone

Created in the Baronetage of England 15 October 1660 for
*Sir John Lewis, 1st Baronet (c. 1615–1671)
*Extinct on his death

Lewis of Harpton Court, Radnor

Created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom 11 July 1846 for
*Sir Thomas Frankland Lewis, 1st Baronet, MP for Beaumaris 1812-1826, Ennis 1826-1828, Radnorshire 1828-1835 and Radnor 1847-1855. Secretary to the Treasury 1827-1828. Vice President of the Board of Trade 1828. Treasurer of the Navy 1830. PC 1828 (14 May 1780 - 22 January 1855)
*Sir George Cornewall Lewis, 2nd Baronet Chancellor of the Exchequer 1855-1858. Home Secretary 1859-1861. Secretary of State for War 1861-1863. PC 1855 (21 April 1806 - 13 April 1863)
*Sir Gilbert Frankland Lewis, 3rd Baronet (21 July 1808 - 18 December 1883)
*Sir Herbert Edmund Frankland Lewis, 4th Baronet (31 March 1846 - 7 November 1911)
*Extinct on his death

Lewis of Brighton, Sussex

Created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom 6 April 1887 for
*Sir Charles Edward Lewis, 1st Baronet MP for Antrim North 1887-1892 (25 December 1825 - 10 February 1893)
*Extinct on his death

Lewis of Nantgwyne, Glamorgan

Created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom 15 February 1896 for William Thomas Lewis.
*Sir William Thomas Lewis, 1st Baronet (1837-1914)
*He was subsequently created Baron Merthyr in 1911 with which title the baronetcy remains merged
*The present heir has disclaimed his peerage and does not use and [http://www.baronetage.org/unproven.htm has not claimed] the baronetcy.

Lewis of Portland Place, London

Created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 1 August 1902 for
*Sir George Henry Lewis, 1st Baronet, noted Jewish lawyer (21 April 1835-7 December 1911)
*Sir George James Graham Lewis, 2nd Baronet (12 September 1879-8 August 1934)
*Sir George James Ernest Lewis, 3rd Baronet (25 February 1910-2 January 1945) "(extinct.)"

Lewis of Essendon Place, Herts

Created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom 11 February 1918 for
*Sir Frederick William Lewis, 1st Baronet (1870–1944) He was subsequently created Baron Essendon in 1932 with which title the baronetcy then merged until its extinction in 1978.
