fli4l (floppy ISDN for Linux) is a linux-based router software suitable for ISDN, DSL and ethernet. The default configuration easily fits on a 3.5" floppy disk. It runs on any x86-based computer - a 486 with 16MB of RAM is sufficient for most uses.
The bootable floppy disk can be created under Linux and Windows. No prior knowledge of Linux is necessary, the basic principles of networking however are a plus. Beginners are encouraged to have a look at the Quick-Start guide.
fli4l can be extended using several modules. For example, the official packages provide functionality to connect networks encrypted over the internet (VPN), filter potentially dangerous contents from websites visited (proxy) or use fli4l in a virtual machine (XEN). In addition to those packages it is easy for users with a certain level of Linux / Unix skills to extend fli4l using their own packages. There is also a Database at the fli4l site for such packages contributed by users.
