- Caenlochan
A small
glen in the Grampian Mountains ofScotland . Caenlochan lies to the east ofGlas Maol and at the head of the River Isla. The glen forms part of a 759-hectare (1876 acres) National Nature Reserve established in 1986.Caenlochan Glen is an area of outstanding natural heritage value. Under EU
Natura 2000 legislation it is aSpecial Area of Conservation [Cite web|url=http://www.jncc.gov.uk/protectedsites/SACselection/sac.asp?EUCode=UK0012821|title=Caenlochan - Special Area of Conservation - SAC|accessdate=2008-07-22] for botanical reasons, containing plant communities found nowhere else in the UK.It is also aSpecial Protection Area for birds including thedotterel .Deer densities in the Caenlochan area are among the highest in Scotland and deer herds of over 1000 animals are seen throughout the year.
