Parathode is a village in the
Idukki district ofKerala state inIndia . Located in a valley surrounded by huge hills. The name of the place comes from theMalayalam words "Para" and "Thode". Here, "Para" means rock and "Thode" means small river (creek).Nearby places are Pullukandom, Panikkankudi, Kambilikandom, Muniyara, Konnathadi etc.
To reach here, one has to travel 18 kilometers from Adimali. Adimaly is 30 km aways from
Munnar inAluva -Munnar route. It takes almost 45 minutes to reach there by public transport (Bus). The route is through Kallarkutty. At Kallarkutty, one has to travel over the dam. During rainy seasons, it is a spectacular scene to see the water rushing out of the dam.Another way to reach here is from
Nedumkandam . This is also around 20 kilometers. It takes almost one and half hours to reach here from Nedumkandam.Note: "There are two more places called "Parathode" in Idukki district. One is near Nedumkandam and other one is near Kanjirappally."
