Luis Eduardo Aponte Yuripe (born
June 14 ,1953 ), better known as Luis Aponte, is a former right-handedmiddle relief pitcher inMajor League Baseball who played for theBoston Red Sox (1980-83) andCleveland Indians (1984). He was born in El Tigre, Anzoátegui State,Venezuela .Aponte was signed by Boston as an amateur free agent in 1973. He had his most effective season in 1982, earning three saves in 40 appearances with a 3.18 ERA.
