The peak of Howson's career to date came in Leeds' playoff semi-final (second leg) game against Carlisle United, in which Howson scored both of Leeds' goals in a 2-0 away win to see Leeds win 3-2 on aggregate. Howson won Leeds' young player of the season at the end of the year.
