left pulmonary artery anomalously originates from a normally positionedright pulmonary artery . The left pulmonary artery then progresses posteriorly over the right mainbronchus near its origin from the trachea, traverses between the trachea and theesophagus and enters the lefthilum . Symptoms includecyanosis ,dyspnoea andapnoeic spell s. It is almost always fatal and usually requires surgical intervention. Rarely it is asymptomatic and is detected incidentally in asymptomatic adults.
