* The North Harbour Tigers replace the Northcote Tigers, representing all of the North Shore clubs.

* The Manurewa Marlins drop out. In their place the Counties Manukau Jetz are formed. Some clubs previously aligned with the Marlins now become affiliated with the Eastern Torndaoes. The Ellerslie club leaves the Tornadoes and joins with Otahuhu to form the Otahuhu Ellerslie Leopards.
*Taranaki drop out after two dreadful seasons. In their place the Waicoa Bay Stallions are formed, representing the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Coastlands regions.
