Nicolai Frahm Born January 17, 1975 Occupation Art Curator and Contemporary Art Collector
Nicolai Frahm (born 17 January 1975) is an art curator and contemporary art collector based in London.Life and career
Frahm is the eldest son of Flemming Frahm, a Danish business entrepreneur who founded Denmark's largest coffee company Skandinavisk Kaffekompani. The company was acquired by Kraft Foods in 1989.
Frahm first began to collect art for his family’s foundation in Copenhagen. In the late 90's he was a contemporary art specialist at Christie's before setting up offices in London and Basel to represent and build private art collections that will ultimately become museums in their own right. [1] Frahm is known to work closely with Frank Cohen, building his collection and setting up his art foundation, Initial Access.
Despite his young age, Frahm is known to have been amongst the first to discover and collect many important European, American, Japanese, and Chinese artists of the mid and late 1990's and 2000's. [2]
In June 2006 The Hospital in London, owned by Microsoft's Paul Allen, hosted an exhibition from Frahm's collection of young artists from Los Angeles.
The following year in January 2007, Art Review rated Frahm as one of the six best contemporary art advisors in the world. [3]
