Yinglong (zh-ts|t=應龍|s=应龙) was a dragon believed to be a powerful servant of Huang Di (黃帝), the yellow emperor, who was later immortalized as a dragon. One legend states that Yinglong helped a man named Yu (禹) stop the Yellow River from flooding by digging long channels with his tail .
