Founded in 2000 by Latin textbook author Cheryl Lowe, the school currently enrolls 493 students in two campuses at 2800 Frankfort Ave (Crescent Hill) and 10901 Shelbyville Rd (Spring Meadows).[3] Several Highlands Latin teachers have written textbooks that are published by Memoria Press,[4][5][6] a classical education publishing house also founded by Cheryl Lowe.[3][5]
Highlands Latin School reported the highest average SAT scores in Louisville in 2005, 2006, and 2008 according to the annual list of private schools published in Business First.[7]
