Ballydown Primary School

Ballydown Primary School is a primary school located in Banbridge, County Down, Northern Ireland. The school was officially opened on 30 June 2004 following a £1.6 million investment. Students performed part of the musical "Mary Poppins" at the opening. The main parts in this play were,

It is within the Southern Education and Library Board area.

In 2004 Ballydown Primary School won third place in the Banbridge District Council Yellow Woods Challenge – an educational and fun environmental recycling initiative - and received £100 and a 'Bronze Beech' certificate.

In 2005 the headmaster reported that all year seven pupils had been trained in basic life support and felt confident "they would know what to do if they found someone who had collapsed or lost consciousness" after the school joined Queen's University's "ABC for Life programme".

School inspection, 2002

The Department of Education (Northern Ireland) carried out an inspection of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in March 2002 and found that strengths included: "priority given to the development of ICT over a number of years and the considerable allocation of resources, time and effort, effective training and on-going support provided by the energetic and knowledgeable ICT co-ordinator and excellent use of ICT in supporting and enhancing the children’s learning across the curriculum". The report concluded that "No major areas for improvement were identified during the inspection".
