Isvara Puri

Isvara Puri

Isvara Puri was a monk of the renunciate order in the Tattvavāda tradition who gave initiation to the Vaishnava saint, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He met Chaitanya at Gaya, whereupon Mahaprabhu requested Puri to be his guru. The latter graciously acquiesced and accepted Mahaprabhu as his disciple several days later, initiating him into the Gopal-mantra.
