Gahmar is considered as a largest village in Asia situated near the
Ganges river in theGhazipur district in the state ofUttar Pradesh ,India .Gahmar is made up of 23 "Pattis" or Sections, each of which is like a small village itself. It is Also called the Soldiers Village since you can find atleast 3 soldiers from each home. There are many Ex-Soldiers who have served in the British Indian Army and have taken part in the "Second World War". There is a very famous saying in this part of region that "You can find 3 Soldiers and 2 Rifles(offcourse licenced)from each home. This Village has very high moral for Serving in the "Indian Army".
" It lies on the Delhi howrah route. The village is dominated byrajput s andbhumihar s. Most of the population are comprises all the section of the society and the people of the village live in peaceful atmosphere. They maintain a high degree of communal harmony. The village Gahmar is flanked by the river Ganga in northern side and a railway station on the southern side. On the west the village has a canal and it is connected with village Bara. On the eastern side sits the holy shrine of Makamakhya . People from all the adjoining area of the village visit the holy shrine.
