GlobalHell

GlobalHell

globalHell was a group of hackers, composed of about 60 individuals, founded in February 1998 by Patrick W. Gregory aka "MostHateD" and Chad Davis aka "Mindphasr". The group disbanded in 1999, when 12 members were prosecuted for computer intrusion and 30 for lesser offences. These members were known to congregate on the Eris Free IRC Network, especially in the channel #eleet.

The members of the group were responsible for over a hundred website defacements, trafficking stolen personal and financial information and illegally accessing numerous teleconferences over which they co-ordinated their efforts. A few of the systems they broke into include those of United States Army, the White House, United States Cellular, Ameritech and the US Postal Service.

On Dec. 6, 2000, Judge Karen Greene spared Sanford, age 17, jail time, sentencing him to five years' probation on condition that he keep the peace, stay offline, submit to random polygraph tests for proof and pay US$45,000 in restitution. It was his partner, a lesser experienced 15-year-old, who was caught and was spared prosecution for turning evidence against Sanford.

In January, 2001, Sanford violated his probation by selling LSD and was sentenced to two years in Hutchins State Jail.
