Horné Zahorany

Horné Zahorany ( _hu. Tóthegymeg) is a village and municipality in the Rimavská Sobota District of the Banská Bystrica Region of southern Slovakia.

History

In historical records, the village was first mentioned in 1323 (1323 "Hegmeg", 1336 "Hegymegey", 1450 "Thenethnek", 1609 "Kyshegimegh", 1653 "Tothegymeg"). It belonged to family Balogy up to the 15th century, and in the 16th century to Derencsényi. In 1566 it was pillaged by Turks. Later, it belonged to landowners Padery and to Lukovištia village.
