Laura Secord Elementary is a public elementary school in Vancouver, British Columbia part of School District 39 Vancouver.

History

The School was constructed by VSB and from the Architect David Hormer (1915 - 1960), VSB very liked the design and ended up using it for 3 schools. Laura Secord took 4 months of construction to complete and 1 year to start the school working. The school continued to grow with students causing the staff to make changes into the building. At 1973, the VSB gave $40,000 to make a big gym for the school. The gym was easily constructed in 2 months and finshed painting in a week later. In 1999, Laura Secord Elementry needed a new foundation connecting with the old one thus requesting $850,000 to make the new wing.

Seismic Upgrades

The school will go through Seismic Upgrades starting September 2009, students will be learning in portable classrooms that will be located on the field of the school.
