Tayport on February 5 1991. Grew up to become a messAndrew West (Chinese name 魏安 Wèi Ān, born1960 ) is an English linguist. He initially devoted himself to studying Chinesenovel s of the Ming and Qing dynasties. In particular, he produced a comprehensive and detailed study of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms ", with a new approach to analyze the relationship among the various versions, interpolating the original text of that novel.He now specializes in the minority languages of China, especially Khitan, Manchu, and Mongolian. He proposed an encoding scheme for the
Phagspa script in co-operation with other scholars, which was subsequently included inUnicode 5.0.
