Helmut Reisen, born 1950 in
Viersen (Germany), is Counsellor at theOECD Development Centre . He is working on various aspects of private and official development finance and on macroeconomic interdependence. Since July 2006 he co-ordinates for the OECD Development Centre the [http://www.oecd.org/document/2/0,2340,en_2649_33731_36904002_1_1_1_1,00.html OECD Global Forum on Development] , which for the years 2006-2009 will engage policymakers in a series of analytically and empirically informed debates and seminars on development finance. He is also currently investigating China's and India's economic impact on poor countries.Mr Reisen holds a PhD from Cologne University and is a Professor of international economics at [http://www.wwz.unibas.ch/ the University of Basle] .
He writes a regular economics column in [http://www.internationalepolitik.de/ Internationale Politik] . He has recently been invited by Martin Wolf, chief economics commentator of the Financial Times, to an invited group of influential, policy-oriented economists from around the globe to consider subjects of immediate interest and ones that are of more enduring significance. He has written extensively in scholarly journals and in the financial press on financial globalisation and pension economics, including two prize-winning essays in the Amex Bank Review competition. His work has been reviewed and published in The Economist, Financial Times, Le Monde and German-language print media.
Helmut Reisen previously worked at the Institute of World Economy, Kiel, for the Confederation of German Industries, and the German Ministry of Economics. He is currently a member of the editorial board of International Finance, Deutsche Bank Research Notes and Internationale Politik.
