Hadewych of Meer

Hadewych of Meer

The Blessed Hadewych (c. 1150 – 14 April 1200?), a.k.a. Blessed Hadewig or Blessed Hedwig, was a prioress of the Premonstratensian convent of Mehre (Meer), near Büderich, in modern North Rhine-Westphalia. She was a daughter of Hildegundis, with whom she founded the convent of Meer about 1165, and whom she succeeded as prioress at the convent in 1183.

Her brother Herman was provost of the Premonstratensian monastery of Kappenberg, in the Diocese of Münster, from 1171–1210. She, as well as her mother and her brother, are counted among the Blessed.
