"UFC 37: High Impact" was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, Louisiana on May 10, 2002. The event was seen live on pay per view in the United States, and was later released on home video.

History

The card was headlined by a Middleweight Title Bout between Murilo Bustamante and Matt Lindland, and featured the first UFC appearances of Robbie Lawler and Ivan Salaverry.__NOTOC__

*Welterweight Bout: flagicon|USA Benji Radach vs. flagicon|USA Steve Berger:Radach was declared the winner by TKO at 0:27 of the first round, but the fight was later ruled a No Contest by the Louisiana State Athletic Commission.

*Middleweight Bout: flagicon|Canada Ivan Salaverry vs. flagicon|Russia Andrei Semenov:Salaverry wins by TKO (referee stoppage due to strikes) at 2:27 of the third round.

*Lightweight Bout: flagicon|Japan Caol Uno vs. flagicon|Bahamas Yves Edwards:Uno wins by unanimous decision at 15:00.

*Middleweight Bout: flagicon|USA Phil Baroni vs. flagicon|Armenia Amar Suloev:Baroni wins by KO at 2:55 of the first round. Baroni was awarded the win after Suloev landed an illegal knee to Baroni's head while he was on his knees.

*Lightweight Bout: flagicon|USA BJ Penn vs. flagicon|USA Paul Creighton:Penn wins by TKO (referee stoppage due to strikes) at 3:23 of the second round.

*Heavyweight Bout: flagicon|USA Ricco Rodriguez vs. flagicon|Japan Tsuyoshi Kohsaka:Rodriguez wins by TKO (referee stoppage due to strikes) at 3:25 of the second round. Rodriguez's 4th TKO straight in the UFC

*Middleweight Championship Bout: flagicon|Brazil Murilo Bustamante vs. flagicon|USA Matt Lindland:Bustamante wins by submission (guillotine choke) at 3:20 of the third round. Bustamante had Lindland hooked cleanly in an armbar early in the fight, then released it after what seemed to be a tap, followed by a shout to stop the action by John McCarthy. Lindland claimed it wasn't a tap, which controversially led McCarthy to restart the fight. This has led to the contest being known as the infamous "double tap" fight. Bustamante was stripped of the title in October 2002 after signing with PRIDE, thereby vacating the UFC Middleweight Championship belt.
