"UFC 36: Worlds Collide" was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship at the MGM Grand Arena on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada on March 22, 2002. The event was seen live on pay per view in the United States, and later released on home video.

History

The card was headlined by two Title Bouts, a Heavyweight Championship bout between Randy Couture and Josh Barnett and a Welterweight Title Bout between Matt Hughes and Hayato Sakurai. UFC 36 marked the last UFC appearance of former 170 lb Champion Pat Miletich. __NOTOC__

*Welterweight Bout: flagicon|USA Sean Sherk vs. flagicon|Japan Jutaro Nakao:Sherk wins by unanimous decision at 15:00. All three judges scored the bout 30-27 for Sherk.

*Lightweight Bout: flagicon|USA Matt Serra vs. flagicon|USA Kelly Dullanty:Serra wins by submission (triangle choke) at 2:58 of the first round.

*Heavyweight Bout: flagicon|USA Frank Mir vs. flagicon|USA Pete Williams:Mir wins by submission (Shoulder lock) at :46 of the first round.

*Light Heavyweight Bout: flagicon|USA Evan Tanner vs. flagicon|Australia Elvis Sinosic:Tanner wins by TKO (doctor stoppage due to cut) at 2:06 of the first round.

*Middleweight Bout: flagicon|USA Matt Lindland vs. flagicon|USA Pat Miletich:Lindland wins by TKO (referee stoppage due to strikes) at 3:09 of the first round.

*Welterweight Championship Bout: flagicon|USA Matt Hughes vs. flagicon|Japan Hayato Sakurai:Hughes wins by TKO (referee stoppage due to strikes) at 3:01 of the fourth round.

*Heavyweight Bout: flagicon|Brazil Pedro Rizzo vs. flagicon|Belarus Andrei Arlovski:Rizzo wins by KO at 1:45 of the third round.

*Heavyweight Championship Bout: flagicon|USA Josh Barnett vs. flagicon|USA Randy Couture:Barnett becomes the UFC Heavyweight Champion by TKO (referee stoppage due to strikes) at 4:35 of the second round. Afterwards Barnett would be stripped of the UFC Heavyweight title when he tested positive for steroids during a mandatory post-fight drug test.
