Holcomb won the bronze medal in the mixed bobsleigh-skeleton team event at the 2008 FIBT World Championships in Altenberg, Germany. He also won the 2007 Two-man World Cup title, [ [http://sports123.com/bob/mwc-2.html List of two-man bobsleigh World Cup champions since 1985] ] won the 2007 combined World Cup title, [ [http://sports123.com/bob/mwc-c.html List of combined men's bobsleigh World Cup champions: 1985-2007] ] and finished second in the 2007 Four-man World Cup standings. [ [http://sports123.com/bob/mwc-4.html List of four-man bobsleigh World Cup champions since 1985] ] It is the first time in history an American has won the Two-man World Cup title.

Prior to joining bobsleigh, Holcomb was involved in alpine skiing in the downhill for eight years previously. He was an alternate for both the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympic teams.

A native of Park City, Utah, Holcomb is also a member of Army World Class Athlete Program for the Utah National Guard of the United States Army. [cite web
