Carol was a character played by
Horatio Sanz on "Saturday Night Live ".The main character of the sketches, Carol, is overweight, crass, ugly, loud and obnoxious. In the sketches, Carol interacts with whichever single man her best friend (played by
Amy Poehler ) and her friend's husband (played byJason Sudeikis ) are socialising with. Sudeikis' character strongly dislikes Carol, commenting on her many obvious flaws and being astonished when anyone shows interest in her, his wife seems to like Carol.Carol is famous for ordering innappropriate drinks, or beverages offered by other establishments such as a Shamrock Shake in a bowling alley and aDunkin' Donuts Choconilla Frappuccino in another fine restaurant. Her catchphrase which is often said after a particularly vulgar or crass statement is "I'm Carol!" Her speech consisted mostly ofsexual innuendo anddouble entendre s. In a sketch featuringAlec Baldwin . He asks her occupation, Carol replies highway worker. Baldwin guesses what highway Carol works on, to which she says I-69, referring to the69 sex position . At the beginning of each episode, Carol displayed the shocker in front of her face. Carol's last appearance was May 20, 2006 with host Kevin Spacey. Sanz was fired that summer and did not return the following season, and the character was retired.Theme Song
The theme song for the Carol sketches is a parody of the theme song from the TV show "Maude". There is some controvesry as to who created the character, as the character "Carol" was created by Greg Roman who was made famous by his character "Titler" who performed with Ben Folds
