Emerson School for Visual and Performing Arts is a seven year (6-12) school for the visual and performing arts of the Gary Community School Corporation in Gary, Indiana, United States.

History
Emerson School for Visual and Performing Arts, named after Ralph Waldo Emerson, was one of the most prestigious high schools in the Midwest when it opened in September 1909. Everything it had was state of the art and set many of the standards of high schools in Gary today. Emerson was home to the first high school maintained zoo in Indiana. It was closed in 1979 due to under population. It was reopened during the mid-80s as the first Visual and Performing Arts schools in Indiana.
chool Uniforms
All GCSC students from pre-Kindergarten through the 12 grade are required to wear school uniforms.
